SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Authorities are still after a Chatham County woman who is charged with staging fake slip and fall accidents in at least three savannah grocery stores.

The insurance commissioner's office got a tip that she was spotted in Beaufort County recently, but they believe she is well out of the area by now.

Willie Mae Nails, 48, is accused of making more than 20 claims for benefits on separate slip and falls between 2009 and 2013, including claims at three grocery stores in Savannah.

The insurance commissioner's office said that she staged one at the Kroger on Victory Drive, one at the Piggly Wiggly that used to be located in the Crossroads shopping complex on Victory Drive and then another at the One Stop on Montgomery Street.

The owner of the One Stop said they took the situation too their insurance company right away.

"You know you hear this all the time. People are trying to do these scams. Nowadays the insurance companies are really on top of it. They've seen it plenty of times and they're not ready to pay out no money," Vinay Patel said.

Investigators said she staged the slip-and-fall accidents in order to make fradulent insurance claims.

"She laid on the floor for a little while said 'oh don't worry I'm OK, I'm OK. I know you guys very well. I'm not going to do anything this that,'" Patel said.

Patel said after the incident they got a call about an hour later. The woman said she was hurt and needed the shop to pay for her medical expenses, but never saw any medical records.

Nails is charged with two counts of insurance fraud and one count of theft by deception.
