SCHP investigates two pedestrian involved collisions

BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating two motor vehicle collisions involving pedestrians, one of whom is a six-year-old child.

The first wreck happened Monday at Laurel Bay and Stanley roads in Beaufort. Officials say one female was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital but there is no word yet on her condition.

Highway patrol also responded to another pedestrian involved wreck on Monday, this one on Hilton Head Island. Investigators say a 6-year-old boy was hit by a pickup truck at the intersection of Pope Ave. and Office Park Rd. The boy was airlifted to Savannah with serious injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck has not been charged and the investigations are ongoing in both cases.
