CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) -

A community candlelight vigil was held Tuesday evening, in honor of popular restaurant owner Jim Brennan.

The 61-year-old owner of Brennan's Colony on Lee Road was murdered Monday afternoon during an apparent robbery at the restaurant.

Cleveland Heights Police say the suspects shot Brennan while he was opening up the business and then fled the scene. They remain on the loose.

The vigil was at the corner of Meadowbrook Boulevard and Lee Road.

City officials, religious leaders and community members organized the gathering.

"It's devastating for all of us who knew him," said Megan Burke, a Cleveland Heights resident. "He takes care of us, he wasn't just an owner he was a friend."

The community says he was a charitable man, who often helped with fundraisers.

"And he's supported this community forever, and for him to be taken from us like this, it's a shock," said Burke.
