World Cup watch parties held in Savannah

The U.S. men's soccer team has just kicked off their knockout game against Belgium.

Folks all across the country are holding huge parties in Chicago, New York, Boston, LA and right here in Savannah - where the place to be is Flip Flops bar downtown.

Fans have been at the bar for hours, many of them missing work. They said regardless of the outcome they have had a blast and seen some pretty crazy celebrations.

"I Have seen someone run out in the middle of the street and dive and the cars just stopped," one fan said.

"It's great to see this reaction for soccer in the U.S. It's just insane," another said.

Just like the past couple of games, the excitement continues to build with each win. The U.S. escaped the so called "group of death."

Belgium may be unbeaten in this year's tournament, but team USA trounced them in the first World Cup in 1930, so history could be on our side.

Also important to note that our star forward Jozy Altidore will be available to play after having to sit out the past two games with a strained hamstring. He is not starting and it's unclear how much time he will see but if the U.S. needs a boost he will be the guy.

Remember when we tied Portugal? That will not happen Tuesday, there can be no ties. So if after the end we are all even we go to extra time and then penalties.
