LYNDHURST, OH (WOIO) -

A great-grandmother and a mother have been indicted in the death of a toddler.

15-month-old Riley Mackey died in Lyndhurst in February. Now Cuyahoga County prosecutors have just indicted the child's great grandmother, Ida Howard; and the child's mother, Cierra Mackey.

Howard is charged with reckless homicide and endangering children. Mackey is charged with endangering children.

The child's death was ruled acute intoxication by oxycodone. It hasn't been revealed yet how the child ingested the oxycodone, but the Lyndhurst Police Chief Rick Porrello says the child was in the care of the great grandmother.

Chief Porrello said, "If the child's welfare was a priority, this didn't have to happen."
