Warning for beach goers with Tropical Storm Arthur risk
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -
Over on Hilton Head Island, Beach Shore Service said they don't expect any major impacts from the storms, but beachgoers need to be aware of potentially choppy water and a slightly higher risk for rip currents.
Officials remind us just because it's a nice day out, it doesn't mean the water can't be dangerous.
"Typically, the wind is more of a factor with the rougher surf conditions. So yeah. Today it's bright and sunny. We're not getting much effect from the storm yet. But when it does come by it could be bright and sunny but it still could mean the waters are rough. So thats really what you have to look at and really listen to what the life guards are telling you out there.," Mike Wagner with the Shore Beach Service said.
Wagner said if there is rough surf, they usually recommend staying in waste deep water.
