SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Hundreds of thousands of fans will not get to cheer on the red, white, and blue anymore, as the mens soccer team was eliminated from the World Cup on Tuesday night.

They loss to Belgium 2-1.

There were huge watch parties all over the country, and even right here in Savannah. The biggest one was at Flip Flops Bar.

Dozens packed inside hoping the team would punch their ticket to the next round, but even though we lost, most everyone enjoyed the ride.

"The last few minutes; it was tough to watch," said Scott Harris, Fan.

"Man, it tears my heart out. I really wanted us to win. I will say our team looks better and better every year," said Keith Reeves, Fan.

"Soccer is the only sport during the World Cup where we all come together and support the U.S. People can knock it, but this is Olympic level," said Sara Seeholtz, Fan.

The next World Cup will be played in 2018.
