Savannah-Chatham public schools get new bell times

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham public schools are setting new goals to get students to and from school on time.

This past school year, more than 98 percent of the buses arrived at school in the mornings on time and about 85 percent of them left school on time. But there were fewer on time bus departures at the K-8's and elementary schools.

The good news is this the new bell times that take effect this fall - should help.

"It's important just for our families. They have lives after school activities. So parents want them to have an idea. That when we say they're going to be home, they're going to be home," Tammy Perkins with SCCPPSS Support Services said.

If you need a reminder on those new bell times, they're on our website under the Education page.
