(CNN) – The National Transportation Board said Wednesday it will not re-open the probe of the midair explosion that brought down TWA Flight 800 nearly 18 years ago.
All 230 people on board of the 747 died when the plane blew up and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean shortly after takeoff from JFK International Airport.
A documentary film team claimed to have uncovered “solid proof” that investigators were wrong in concluding it was an accident.
Witnesses said they saw a streak of light and a fireball, raising suspicions that terrorists hit the plane with a rocket.
The NTSB concluded the explosion was caused by an electrical short that detonated vapors in the center fuel tank.
