SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The 1940's were at City Market Thursday. Actors from the Savannah College of Art and Design were dressed up as World War II airmen.

They were out in DOwntown Savannah educating tourists on the war.

It was part of a push by Pooler's Nationals Museum of the Mighty 8th Air Force to draw visitors.

"The 8th Air Force began in Savannah. It started on Bull Street. It only started with eight men. We want people to get out and learn the history of the 8th airforce as well as some world war two and not forget what happened," student Connor McGinty said.

The actors were offering tourists information and local museum coupons. Those who took their pictures with the re-enactors will be entered into a drawing for a Mighty 8th goodie bag.
