OC Welch offers free repair service to veterans

Almost 200 military veterans received free car maintenance from OC Welch as part of Veterans Appreciation Week.

This is the first year the dealership has offered the service. Veterns could choose from five different packages.

Welch said he personally signed off on each service ticket and many were in need of repair.

"I heard it on the radio that they were doing this great deal, ran home and called in, got myself an appointment, working on your car is expensive and OC Welch is picking up a huge tab in doing this," retired Marine Tom Vande Burgt said.

"You know, money is really hard to come by for a lot of veterans…and we all know that…and it's just time for us to step up, our whole country needs to step up," Welch said.

Welch said the total cost so far is more than $75,000.

Starting Thursday, the dealership is offering all military service members and veterans free membership to golf at The Black Creek Golf Club in Ellabell.
