The family of Bianca Tanner is telling WBTV about the day they met with Tanner's boyfriend, Angelo Grayson Smith Jr, in jail before police sources say he confessed to killing her.
The family drove to Charlotte to talk to detectives on Tuesday about the case. After meeting with police they were allowed to meet with Smith.
Family members say Smith denied that he had anything to do with Tanner's disappearance. Relatives claim they saw right through him and didn't believe him.
While family members wait for confirmation from state examiner's office, they say this ordeal has taken its toll on the family. We talked to the family less than 24 hours before police say they found the remains of who they believe is Bianca Tanner.
"This is the longest we have ever been apart," Tanner's sister Cerise Richardson said. "That's the longest we have not talked. It's hard."
Tanner's relatives say they are appreciative of the community's support and believe it has made a difference.
"You never think that something like this will ever happen," Richardson said. "So just knowing we have people rallying and supporting us - It's really been a comfort to us."
The family says they will soon make a statement about this case.
