Rainfall totals from day one of monsoon activity

Our first day with monsoon storms around the metro brought much needed rainfall across all of southern Arizona. The moisture surge came from northern Mexico and with the sunshine we had throughout the afternoon, we saw quite a bit of lift across the state.

Storms first fired up in Cochise County and slowly moved to the west, this allowed outflow to blow across the hot desert and that lifted the air. Anytime we see moist air rise you get cloud development and usually rainfall when dew points are in the 50's and 60's.
