AIKEN, SC (WIS) -

A man is in custody after a suspicious package was found inside his car Saturday in Aiken.

An Aiken Public Safety Officer observed a vehicle on Whiskey Road speeding and stopped the vehicle in the Kroger parking lot.

Further investigation revealed the vehicle was a Breach of Trust vehicle, police said.

Police said the driver, Darin Lee Mabrey, of North Augusta had an active ACSO warrant and was taken into custody.

An inventory of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a quantity of a schedule IV substance, a quantity of Marijuana and a suspicious package.

The Bomb Unit from SLED responded and rendered the suspicious package safe.

The package and its contents were collected by SLED agents for further examination in the SLED forensics lab.

Mabrey was placed under arrest on the following charges: Breach of Trust of a Motor Vehicle, Driving under Suspension 2nd Offense, Possession of a Schedule IV Substance, Possession of Marijuana 2nd Offense, and Providing False information to a Public Safety Officer.

The investigation into the suspicious package is active. Officers from SLED, NAPS, and the ACSO are assisting with the investigation.
