Community saddened after child drowns

Posted: Updated:

WTOC is learning more details about a sad story about a four year old who drowned in a pool at the Godley Park neighborhood complex.

Several witnesses say four year old King Frazier had fallen and hit his head on the cement before falling into the pool.

The incident happened Friday afternoon; police say King was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Neighbors say the pool was packed for the fourth of July but was shut down after the incident. It re-opened Saturday but only residents are allowed inside the pool area.

There are "no lifeguard on duty" signs posted around pool's fence, warning folks that they are to swim at their own risk.

WTOC spoke to one neighbor who says he was shocked when he heard the news. Christopher Foster says it hits close to home because his niece doesn't know how to swim yet and he takes her to the pool all the time.

"It just kind of hurt when I heard about it," said Foster. "I just feel like there's something that could have been done to prevent it or maybe just take measures to prevent something like that from happening in the future."

Police are still investigating the incident. WTOC has reached out to the Godley Park Homeowner's Association about whether they plan to make any changes but we are still waiting to hear back.
