On Monday, two high profile murder cases will continue in court in Beaufort County.

Preston Oates, the former tow truck operator accused of killing a man on Christmas Eve 2010, was convicted last month. Motions filed by the defense in the Oates case are scheduled to be heard at 9 a.m. Monday.

A jury found Oates guilty of voluntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The judge sentenced him to a concurrent term of 26 years for both crimes.

Meanwhile, Jerry Manigault is scheduled to be in court in Beaufort County for a bond hearing.

Manigault is charged with the murder of Polly Ann Mitchell in Bluffton, and for the murder of 77-year-old Julia Ann Mudgett from Hollywood, South Carolina. He will be tried separately on each case.

Manigault's bond hearing is scheduled for Monday at 2 p.m.
