What's in a Name: Factor's Walk

Throughout the month of July, WTOC is taking a look at how landmarks in the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry for their names.

WTOC takes a look at Factor's Walk in Savannah.

The shops, restaurants and inns along Factor's Walk were originally the home of Savannah's cotton exchange, with offices on the top floors and warehouses occupying the several floors below.

The red brick buildings on a bluff just across from the river were where Savannah's cotton brokers, or factors, would do their trade, setting cotton prices worldwide and establishing a name that remains for this stretch of the historic district that endures today.
