The executives of the green book publisher, Sullivan Street Press, have packed their bags and are hitting the road for their fourth annual summer road trip. In anticipation of the trip, the company is implementing several updates to their website and social platforms.
New York, New York (PRWEB) July 09, 2014
Sullivan Street Press, a NYC-based green book publisher, will be hitting the road this week to promote the importance of their publishing mission to create a more sustainable planet. In support of their fourth annual road trip and the companys shift away from an e-commerce distribution of their books, Deborah Emin, Founder of Sullivan Street Press, announced several exciting updates for the company.
Throughout the road trip, avid book readers and publishing industry lovers can follow the pair, Deborah Emin and Suzanne Pyrch, as they meet with friends, new and old, in the Mid-Atlantic States and Midwest. Emin and Pyrch plan to regularly update their road trip blog on the Sullivan Street Press website along with their company Facebook page to keep supporters up-to-date on where they are and what they have accomplished.
The pair will also be updating the Scags at 7 Video Project YouTube page, a multimedia project where volunteers read 2-minute excerpts from Emins Scags at 7 novel. Currently the project has 38 installments from previous road trips and Emin believes the number of installments will greatly increase with the intensive itinerary planned.
For this years road trip, we are reaching out to more indie bookstores than ever before, exclaimed Emin. With our shift away from an e-commerce distribution of our books, we are looking to collaborate with indie bookstores and educate them on the importance of sustainable publishing. Despite our books being sold through Amazon due to our companys distribution changes, we are big supporters of indie bookstores and are part of the IndieBound affiliate marketing program. We are also pleased to see all our titles on the Powells Bookstore website.
To assist with their efforts in changing the publishing paradigm, Sullivan Street Press has also launched a campaign to develop a Sullivan Street Team. The 40 for 100,000 campaign is designed to recruit a group of 40 compassionate individuals who share common goals with the authors and can help sell 100,000 of all of titles offered by Sullivan Street Press within the next year. Emin and Pyrch will be recruiting during their event-filled road trip as they build bridges with people along the route.
The future of the publishing industry is mobile-based, explained Emin. With the money we anticipate raising with the help of our Street Team we plan to develop new book apps designed to work on smartphones and tablets. We are asking people to donate one hour per week to get the word out and help us continue our mission!
About SULLIVAN STREET PRESS:
Founded 4 years ago, Sullivan Street Press entered the e-publishing domain to change the publishing paradigm. It recognized that for both financial and environmental reasons it was necessary to advocate for the rise of the e-book and the technology that makes all things digital possible. Responding to readers concerns, many of whom arent yet ready to commit to the e-book revolution, SSP is now having its books distributed as e-books from Kobo.com and in paperback format through all independent bookstores as well as Amazon.com. In furtherance of the digital side of its publishing mission, the Scags Series is also available as in iPad app, powered by MAZ Digital. About Deborah Emin:
Deborah Emin began Sullivan Street Press to publish books that needed a home that other publishers would not take a risk on. Then realizing that there were lots of ways for writers to get their books published now, she changed the focus of the press to putting together a publishing program that addresses the needs we all have right now to learn to change our lives, to work together. Her 4-part Scags Series (Scags at 30, the third volume due out this winter) is her contribution to the process of change by fictionalizing the awakening process that women go through as they discover their power in this world and what they are meant to do with it.
