A Wednesday early morning fire in Hinesville has affected a total of seven people.
The fire heavily damaged several apartments in the Wyngrove Apartment complex off of Grove Point Drive not far from the Veterans Parkway entrance to Fort Stewart.
According to Captain Kris Johanson of the Hinesville Fire Department, the fire appears to have started on a porch of a second floor apartment. The fire spread quickly into the ceiling of the structure burning the vinyl and wood.
The occupant smelled smoke and went to investigate and saw flames inside the apartment.
When firefighters arrived the the structure was engulfed in flames, Johanson said however it did not take long to bring the fire under control.
Several of the apartments were unoccupied, and sustained smoke and water damage. The occupants affected included a couple with an infant, the Red Cross is providing aid.
