AIKEN, SC (WFXG) -

Regions Bank on Chesterfield Street was evacuated Wednesday morning after officers said a mysterious man showed up at the door with a package.

"A white male presented a package for delivery and left it," Detective Jeremy Hembree with the Aiken Department of Public Safety said.

Officers investigated the package and found a repair part for an ATM inside. Officers said employees got suspicious because the bank was not expecting a delivery, and the box was not addressed to the bank.

"Due to the manner in which it was delivered, we have taken our precautions and brought in resources to confirm the content," Hembree said.

An explosives K9, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, the Richmond County Sheriff's Office, the Aiken County Sheriff's Office and the FBI were all called in to investigate.

"Anytime there's a package you're not anticipating, unfortunately after 9/11, the Boston Marathon bombing and several other incidents, you want to take these precautions," Hembree said.

The package was cleared just after noon and Chesterfield Road was re-opened, Hembree said.

He said about a dozen employees were evacuated.
