Sewage line repairs expected to begin in Garden City

GARDEN CITY, GA (WTOC) -

Owners of the Plantation Townhouses in Garden City say they are planning to begin repairs on the sewage lines for the apartment units.

Officials say an entire sewer line might need to be replaced at Plantation Townhouses, which could involve digging up concrete.

Families who live there tell WTOC that sewage has been spilling out for more than a month now, and on Wednesday, the Garden City Water Operations Department sent over a notice that the property owners have until Thursday to start taking care of the problem.

Some residents to whom we spoke did not want to be identified.

Tenant: "You can't just come outside and enjoy and let your kids run and play. You can't do that because the flies are attacking. People have animals around here. They can't walk that way to a store that sits behind here because that's disgusting, nobody wants to step in that."

The property owners say repairs will begin later Thursday.
