Last day to submit 100 Worst Properties nominations

So far, at least 75 people have submitted homes they consider to be the worst in Savannah.

The city is looking to build an online database of the top 100 worst properties, which will allow people to track the progress of these homes and it's a way to shame some of the homeowners who to refuse to bring their properties up to code.

Last year, the City of Savannah Property Maintenance staff handled 13,466 cases, including exterior building violations, overgrown lots, and derelict vehicles.

Savannah residents have until 5 p.m., Monday, July 14 to help the City in creating its new 100 Worst Properties List.

Citizens may call 311 or visit and use the "100 Worst Properties Nomination Form" to provide an address, property condition description, and attach a photo if they choose. City Property Maintenance inspectors will visit the property and decide whether it meets the criteria to be on the list.

Based on the submissions, the city will choose which homes will be on this list. It will be available on August 1 on the City's website,

The 100 Worst Properties List is part of the City's larger anti-blight campaign called Blight to Bright.
