TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Mexico's government made a big donation to Arizona's prisons.

Mexico donated more than 1,600 Spanish-language textbooks to the Arizona Department of Corrections on Thursday.

The presentation took place at the prison complex in Tucson, with Mexico's consul general from Phoenix.

The books will end up in prisons statewide to help inmates who are getting an education behind bars.

Arizona's state prison population includes thousands of foreign nationals, with Mexican citizens being the largest group.
