The American Red Cross holds Adopt a Week blood drive for local family

The American Red Cross is asking for help from the local community.

The organization is holding a week long blood donation event for the williams family. Three out of four of the family members, including their four and five year old sons, have a rare blood disorder known as Diamond-Blackfan Anemia. Due to the disorder, the bone marrow does not make enough red blood cells to carry oxygen through the body.

Treatment requires regular blood transfusions, which is why The American Red Cross is seeking donations from the community.

The Williams Family Red Cross Donor Center will be located at 25 Tibet Avenue. The adopt a week event will take place July 14th-19th. Toschedule an appointment to donate blood, donors are asked to visit www.redcrossblood.org.

Donor Center Hours are as follows:  Monday & Tuesday 11am-7pm, Wednesday 7am-12pm, Thursday 12pm-7pm, Friday 8am-3pm and Saturday 7:30am-1:30pm.

All donors who present to donate in support of The Williams Family should sign the Red Community Book at check in. All presenting donors will be entered into drawings for the following items:$10 Zaxby's Gift Cards or $25 Jalapeno's Gift Cards!
