Candidates vying to replace Jack Kingston in the First Congressional District squared off on Sunday.
WTOC's very own Sonny Dixon was the moderator for the First Congressional District debate at the Atlanta Press Club. On the Republican side, Dr. Bob Johnson and State Senator, Buddy Carter, traded barbs over their conservative credentials. Democratic candidate, Amy Tavio, showed up for the debate. But, her opponent, Brian Reese, was represented by an empty podium. That debate will air on GPB this Wednesday at 7:30pm.
Whoever wins the republican nomination for senate will face off against democratic candidate Michelle Nunn. Nunn is the daughter of former senator Sam Nunn.
Both Republican and Democratic candidates are headed for a July 22 runoff in their primary races.
