Authorities are investigating after an 8-year-old boy drowned in a home pool in Beaufort County Monday morning.
The Bluffton Police Department say officers responded to a home on Augustine Road in Bluffton for a report of a child found floating unconscious in a family pool.
Police say the victim's mother pulled the child out of the pool, called 911 and began CPR.
Officers arrived on the scene and took over medical procedures until emergency rescue crews arrived.
The victim was transported to Coastal Carolina Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Bluffton police say the cause of the drowning is under investigation.
