SDEROT, Israel (CNN) - The Israeli cabinet on Tuesday accepted an Egyptian proposal for a cease-fire with Hamas in the Gaza conflict. However, Hamas rejected the terms.

The plan called for all sides to cease hostilities in Gaza.

It also called for the opening of border crossings, once the security situation is stable, and for high-level talks among those involved.

With the plan's disapproval by Hamas, however, there may be little hope of seeing an end to the constant exchange of fire that has so far killed more than 180 Palestinians.
