2 suspects arrested for armed robbery in Port Royal

PORT ROYAL, SC (WTOC) -

Port Royal Police Department arrested two suspects for armed robbery of the Back Porch Grill in Port Royal.

Officers arrested 21-year-old Kendel Johnson and 21-year-old Franklin Bates for armed robbery while armed with a deadl weapon and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. 

On July 13, officers responded to the robbery.

The two armed suspects entered the business prior to opening hours.

The victim was held at gun point and two money bags were taken with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspects fled in a late model dark gray vehicle. During a follow-up investigation, it was found that Franklin Bates, a former employee of the Back Porch Grill, owned a vehicle fitting the description.

After further investigation, Officers obtained a search warrant for Bates' vehicle and residence.

This led to the arrest of Bates and Johnson.
