WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Republican David Rouzer has a cash advantage over the two other candidates running to replace Mike McIntyre as the Representative for North Carolina's  3rd Congressional District. Rouzer, Democrat Jonathan Barfield and Libertarian J. Wesley Casteen all filed second quarter fundraising reports this week with the Federal Elections Commission.

Rouzer, the former state Senator from Johnston County who lost the race for the Third District seat to McIntyre in 2012 by less than 700 votes, reports having $90,021.02 cash on hand at the end of June.

According to FEC reports, the David Rouzer for Congress committee raised $212,966.48 in the second quarter, with more than $106,000 coming from Political Action Committees. Rouzer's committee also spent $404,284.97 in the second quarter, a result of a contentious GOP primary race against candidates Woody White and Chris Andrade.
