Jeff Davis Sheriff's deputy cleared of wrongdoing in March shooting death

JEFF DAVIS CO., GA (WTOC) -

A Jeff Davis County grand jury cleared Deputy Brandon Merritt of any wrongdoing in the March shooting death of Joshua Foskey.

Deputies were searching for Foskey on Snipesville Highway when Merritt shot and killed the Hazlehurst man.

On Wednesday, the grand jury said Merritt acted lawfully in the discharge of his weapon and was justified in his conduct and did not find criminal charges were warranted in this matter.
