Three more shot in Savannah, brings total to 8 since Wednesday


Another two separate shootings took place in Savannah on Friday and early Saturday morning, putting the number at eight in the past 72 hours.

The latest shooting happened on Paulsen and Gwinnett Street around 2:43 a.m. on Saturday according to Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police spokes person Julian Miller.

The victim is a 25 year old male who was shot outside of a bar when it was closing. He suffered from non-life threatening injuries.

Another shooting happened on Seiler Avenue and Live Oak Street around 7:45 p.m. on Friday.

Police are busy trying to keep up with these incidents, the combined Saturday morning shooting victim and Friday's two shooting victims bring the count up to eight people shot since Wednesday.

Police said the shooting on Friday involved two males in their twenties who were taken to the hospital. The severity of their injuries is unknown at this time and no arrests have been made in the latest shooting.

The timeline begins on Wednesday when one man was shot at the corner of Whitaker and Hall streets, and right after that, another person was found with a gunshot wound in the 200 block of W. Henry Street.

About 30 minutes later, police stopped a speeding car with a man who was reportedly shot near Abbot and Chester. On Thursday night, police found a 17 year old shot on 36th Street, and just after that, a woman was shot on W. 39th Street.

All of these shootings remain under investigation, and police are really hoping people contact them or CrimeStoppers with any tips, all of which stay anonymous.

"Not only can they solve cases, but they do solve cases," said Catherine Neal of CrimeStoppers. "To me and you, it may not seem like a big deal. It may be a big deal to the investigator. So we are always encouraging anyone to share any kind of information."

Police also responded to reports that shots were fired at a house in the 2300 block of Tennessee Avenue, but no one was hurt in that incident.
