Tradewinds casino ship captain suspended with pay

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

According to the Tradewinds Savannah Facebook page, the captain of the casino ship that got stuck on a sandbar for nearly two days.

The captain has been suspended with pay since Friday afternoon, and will be suspended until an internal investigation is completed.

Tradewinds Savannah stressed that they do support their captain and believe he did perform professionally and kept safety a main concern during the incident early Wednesday morning.

The company did extend an apology to customers involved in the incident that stranded 123 people on the ship for about 24 hours.

Tradewinds Savannah has determined through initial underwater inspection that no faults were found on the hull plating, keel coolers, rudders, zincs, bow thrusters, and/or any inside plating.

The company says, "we will continue to strive to remain a positive part of the Savannah community by providing jobs and supporting local businesses and tourism alike."
