Garden City Fire Department raising money for Fire Chief's wife

GARDEN CITY, GA (WTOC) -

Volunteers and Firefighters of the Garden City Fire Department are coming together to raise money for Chief Jimmy Crosby and his wife who is suffering from Alzheimer's Disease.

The "Food for thought" fundraiser is being coordinated by all the people who work at the Garden City Fire Department to help pay for Mrs. Crosby's expensive medical bills associated with her Alzheimer's treatment.

Money can be donated to the fire department either by cash or check. Mailing the donations or dropping by one of the two stations is the best method to donate money. All checks should be labeled "Food for thought" so that the money goes to the proper cause.

Garden City Firefighters say Chief Crosby and his wife are always making jokes and have been involved with the station for the long time making this cause important to them.

Chief Crosby has been a member of the Garden City Fire Department for 47 years and his wife has been equally involved with the community as a teacher.

Garden City Firefighter and Public Information Officer Amy Hedrick said, "We are showing him that even though he is a little hard on us that we still appreciate him and care about him."

Money donations can be dropped off or mailed to Station 1 at 160 Main Street or Station 2 at 2406 Hwy 80.

The Garden City Fire Department plans to continue this fundraiser throughout the summer.
