MIDDLE BASS ISLAND, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Two people and two dogs had to be rescued from their 33-foot boat in Lake Erie on Sunday after striking bottom and taking on water.

The U.S. Coast Guard says that just after 9:30 AM they were notified that a vessel was taking on water on the northeast side of Middle Bass Island.

A 25-foot response boat from the Coast Guard station in Marblehead, as well as a Coast Guard boat from Port Clinton, were dispatched to the scene.

The Coast Guard was able to get the people and dogs off the boat before successfully dewatering the vessel.

No one was hurt in the incident and there were no signs of pollution from the accident in the water.
