Metro police investigate recent rash of shootings

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Investigations continue after seven shootings took place within one week in Savannah, including one fatal.

Violent crimes detectives say a shooting in east Savannah left one man dead and a second injured Friday night.

Investigators say Arkeen Abron and Showkey Barnes were taken to Memorial University Medical Center just before 8 p.m. after a shooting in the 1200 block of East Seiler Avenue.

Abron later died and Barnes was treated for his injuries.

Police are also investigating the shooting of a Savannah man as he was leaving a bar early Saturday morning.

Investigators say 25-year-old Ashley Edwards was shot by a male he had argued with earlier in the night.

The shooting happened at a bar at Gwinnett and Paulsen streets around 3 a.m., as the bar was closing.

Edwards was taken to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment.
