Police: Pregnant woman struck and killed crossing highway

Police said a pregnant woman was hit by a car as she tried to cross a highway in Hall County.

According to Georgia State Police, Kimberly Coates, 29 of Alto, was trying to cross GA-365 at the intersection of Mud Creek Road.

Coates reportedly walked into the path of an on-coming car. The driver tried to avoid hitting the woman, but could not.

The car hit Coates, killing her and her unborn baby. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are still investigating the accident.
