There are more questions than answers as to why an ambulance went missing from a local hospital. Savannah-Chatham police tell us they received a call earlier this afternoon from MedStar Ambulance Service saying one of its vehicles was missing from Memorial Health. They also told police where they thought it might be located.
We talked with a hospital spokesman and he says MedStar brought a woman to Candler, and while the medics were checking her in, she walked out, got back in the ambulance and took off.
Officers caught up the ambulance at President Street near the Truman Parkway. Emergency crews took the injured female driver to the hospital in the same ambulance.
No word yet on why she may have taken the ambulance or why she went to the hospital in the first place.
