Florida man wanted for murder arrested in Vidalia

VIDALIA, GA (WTOC) -

A Fort Pierce, FL man wanted for first degree murder was arrested in Vidalia on Tuesday by the U.S. Marshals Service Savannah Office of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Toombs County Sheriff's Office and the Vidalia Police Dept.

Jaspah Dwaun Simmons, 20, was wanted by the Fort Pierce Police Dept. for first degree murder for an incident that happened on Sept. 23, 2013 in Fort Pierce.

The U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force was trying to locate and apprehend Simmons, and an investigation showed that he could possibly be located in Vidalia.

When Simmons was arrested, he was in possession of a loaded 12-guage shotgun. Two other men were also arrested pending additional charges. Simmons was taken to the Toombs County Jail to await court proceedings on local charges and extradition back to Florida.
