Savannah stray dogs found together placed in new home
ATLANTA (CBS46) -
Two stray dogs in Savannah that captured the hearts of animal control staff and animal lovers nationwide with their story of loyal friendship now have a home where they can live together.
Animal control officers named the pair Joanie and Chachi because of their devotion and love for each other. Adoption applications came in from across the country, and yesterday animal control officers approved one of the applications. The canine companions will be heading to their new home in Florida next month.
Joanie is a lab/pit bull mix and Chachi is a long-haired Chihuahua mix. Joanie would often be seen carrying Chachi around town in her mouth and licking his eye that was infected when they were found. Veterinarians gave Chachi the medical attention he needed, and were forced to remove his ruptured eye. Staff members are excited they were able to place the unlikely pair in one home so they can be together.
