MIDWAY, GA (WTOC) -

An armed robbery with a machete has three men in custody in Liberty County thanks to the quick work by a Midway police officer.

At approximately 4 a.m. on Wednesday two men went into a store on Interstate 95 while a third man waited in the car. The robbers used a machete to rob the clerk, then left in the car.

Officer Russell Knox heard the call and started driving toward the interstate. He saw a parked car at a shopping center when he knew everything was closed. When the car saw Knox's patrol car, they pulled to the road, but Knox was able to stop the car and ask what they were doing in the parking lot.

"He asked them where they were coming from, and when he asked where they were coming from, all three had different stories," said Midway Police SPO Duval Page.

That raised Knox's suspicions and gave him latitude to ask more questions.

"He just asked if they had anything in the car, anything illegal or what, and the driver said he had a couple of machetes," said Page. "That's when the red flag really went up."

Knox held them there until Page and sheriff's deputies could get to the scene, where all three men were arrested.

Reginald Mikhail Brown was charged with armed robbery, Christian Joshua Manuel was charged with kidnapping and armed robbery and Shemar Deshawn Ramos was charged with armed robbery.

All three remain in the Liberty County Jail.
