The Atlanta Police Department's Fugitive Unit and the FBI are thanking deputies in Evans County after they arrested one of their long time fugitives in Claxton.

Evans County Sheriff's office deputies arrested Kimberly Ward after an incident where she gave them several different names. They fingerprinted her and later learned she was a wanted woman.

ECSO officials then notified the Atlanta Police Department and they came down and took Ward back to Atlanta.

The FBI says Ward has been on the run for almost two and a half years for the attempted murder of her ex-boyfriend in Atlanta in March 2012. They say he was shot one time in the chest and was put on a breathing tube to survive.

Ward was captured in Claxton in Evans County. She was reportedly working at a poultry plant there.

Ward has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and kidnapping. She was the only female on the FBI's top 10 most wanted list.
