Organizers prepare for Lowcountry Supper

BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) -

People in Beaufort are getting ready for the Lowcountry Supper, one of the most popular events at the 59th annual Beaufort Water Festival.

Cooking for the event is currently underway at Beaufort's Water Front Park.

The cooks are making Lowcountry Boil or Frogsmore Stew as some call it. There are 14 grills and lots of pots, and more grills are on the way to help out with the cooking.

The stew is going to have shrimp, sausage and corn, and it's a huge hit with festival goers every year, and this year is no different. Organizers are excepting to feed about 2,500 to 3,000 people on Thursday night.

"A lot of people in here in the Lowcountry like it," said Jason Dangerfield with the Beaufort Water Festival. "They like to put all kinds of different stuff in it. Everybody does their Lowcountry Boil differently. You season it up with a bunch of Old Bay. People have cocktail sauce. We serve it with slaw and rolls and butter with it."

Food will be served at 6 p.m. , and they will only have enough for 3,000 people, so if you're late, you may be out of luck.
