Savannah Historical Maps and Prints exhibit now open

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

In preparation of the 225th anniversary of the City of Savannah, Virginia and John Duncan of V. & J. Duncan Antique Maps & Prints are sharing their personal collections, historical maps, prints, and postcards of Savannah at City Hall starting July 25th.

The exhibit, "Savannah Historical Maps and Prints," features a selection of maps and prints tracing the growth and development of Savannah through the 18th and 19th centuries.

This series will be on exhibit for the public now through December 31, 2014 in the first floor rotunda of City Hall.

 In addition to the exhibit, a special digital postcard collection has been made accessible to the public through the City's Research Library & Municipal Archives. The V. & J. Duncan Postcard Collection features over 2,090 postcards of the Savannah area dating from the late 1800's through the 20th century. 

The collection includes images of Savannah's parks and squares, prominent streets, historic homes and public buildings, and much more.  A selection of 352 postcards from the collection is featured through the Library & Archives new Digital Image Catalog.
