The City of Savannah Municipal Government will celebrate its
225th anniversary in December.
In recognition of the community milestone, Virginia and John
Duncan of V & J Duncan Antique Maps and Prints are sharing, from their personal
collections, historical maps, prints and postcards of Savannah through a new
City Hall exhibit that opened on Friday.
The exhibit is open to the public through Dec. 31 and it is
located in the first floor rotunda of City Hall. IN addition to the exhibit, a
special digital postcard collection has been made accessible to the public
through the city's research library and municipal archives.
"Students can use it for school
projects," said Luciana Spracher from the City of Savannah."Historians can use
it as they're trying to find out what something looked like, how something may
have changed over time and the city staff will be able to use it as we do
research as we move forward to make decisions about new projects."
