Freedom Cyclers bike across country to raise awareness, money to end human trafficking

TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) -

A group of cyclists are biking across the country to raise awareness and money to end human trafficking.

The Freedom Cyclers started their journey in Los Angeles and biked 3,200 to Savannah, finishing the day on Tybee Island.

They raised more than $10,000 to be donated to the cause. The riders said the challenging trek pales in comparison to those affected by human trafficking.

"Thinking about why you're doing this trip, and the people that you're trying to help around the world really, and here in the United States, thinking that they're in so much worse of a place than you can probably even imagine and being tired on a bike doesn't even compare to what  they're going through," said Jason Elliott. And so being able to look at that, and that gives you the drive and push to keep on going."

It took the team about 45 days to make the trip.
