2014 State sales tax holiday runs Aug. 1-3

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The State of Alabama will hold its 9th-annual sales tax holiday August 1-3.

Back-to-school shoppers will have the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers and clothing free of state sales taxes.

The following is a list of exempted items:

  • Clothing - $100 or less per article
  • Computers & Software - Single purchase with sales price of $750 or less
  • School supplies, school art supplies, and instructional materials - Sales price of $50 or less per item
  • Books - Sales price of $30 or less per book
