SSU Campus Police Officer Resigns

A campus police officer at Savannah State University has resigned after several students filed complaints against him. Marcus Williams is accused of using excessive force against one student and falsely arresting another.

Last Wednesday, dozens of SSU students held a protest on campus. They say Williams was physically and verbally abusive toward them. Hundreds signed a petition, listing their many run-ins with the officer. Some even say Williams pulled a gun on them.

This week Williams resigned, saying he had more lucrative opportunities waiting for him. Savannah State is not commenting on the issue.
