Armstrong State University Cyber Forensic Division honored

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Armstrong State University's Police Dept. was honored with the Dr. Curtis McClung Award at the 2014 Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police summer training meeting.

The award was given to the Cyber Forensic Division at Armstrong for its innovation, its ability to have a lasting impact in the community, and its cooperation among multiple agencies.

"This is a big honor for Armstrong," said Chief Wayne Willcox. "We were literally in competition with every police department, every criminal justice agency in the state of Georgia, and this program, which we are very proud of, has risen to the top and we are very, very grateful for the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police for recognizing that."

The Cyber Forensic Division provides digital forensic analysis to federal, state and local agencies.
