Crews clearing land for new McDonald's off of Montgomery Cross Road

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Crews are already clearing way for a brand new McDonald's off of Montgomery Cross Road.

The area is clearly growing fast, and just over the last 10 to 15 years the land has become completely developed with all commercial real estate.

Equipment and crews were in place, starting work on the area. The complex started with the development of the Walmart and Sam's Club, then recently added a Zaxby's, and now people will see one of the nation's largers fast food chains.

While this entire development has been a topic of concern in the past, many nearby business owners think it will bring more people to the area and add some variety.

"Well Sandfly is growing really fast," said Debbie Lair. "I don't think you can have too many restaurants around because we need a pick of restaurants. We're here, we go out to eat all the time. It's a daily thing that we go out to eat every day, so we need different places to eat, and we need it to be close."

Not everyone has been supportive of the plans for a new McDonald's, voicing concern that construction is taking down noise buffers that were identified when the Sam's and Walmart were built.
