Police Flyers Urge Shoppers to Beware of Crime

If you are out shopping over the holiday, you may notice something left on your car. Savannah-Chatham police are putting orange flyers on the windshields of cars. The flyers remind shoppers not to leave valuables in the car, like handbags, keys or presents.

Officers say auto theft really goes up this time of year around malls and shopping centers. "People become so busy in the holiday rush they run around and tend to forget the common-sense tactics they would normally practice so they don't get vandalized," said Cpl. Harry Carroll.

Officers will be working overtime to protect shoppers at area malls during the holidays.
